The United States has announced $150 million in various aid packages to Afghanistan. This comes nearly one year after the Taliban took control of the country.

The aid will be segmented into three different packages. Attached is information on each with dollar amounts.

• $40 million will be provided by the United States to "increase international support for Afghan children, particularly adolescent girls." The money will provide resources to "hundreds of thousands of vulnerable Afghans with desperately needed cash assistance to keep their children in school—children who would otherwise not attend or drop-out of school due to ongoing humanitarian, economic, and political crises."

• $80 million will be provided to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization to "improve food security and nutrition for Afghans, including women-headed households." The money given to the United Nations will also help Afghan farmers increase food production using environmentally-sustainable practices.

• $30 million will be provided to the United Nations to support gender equality and women's empowerment in Afghanistan. The United States says the money will provide women access to social protection services and provide funds to organizations fighting for women's rights in the country.
